When talking to Aimee Tucker yesturday at church she informed me of your situation and the events that have taken place prior to your husband entering this coma. It sounds like you guys are an amazing family and the Lord’s mercy really shines through you. My heart has been pressed and impacted by your current situation for some specific reasons… one would think, the irony?? But I know that this is only the Lord bringing (as you commented on in the letter on the main page of this site) his body of Christ together.
    This is why:
My husband had an AVM in his brain. It was discovered in Fall 2002 while he was driving home from work one day. Apparently he had a siezure while driving. He was found unconcious in his car on the side of the road. He had a blead (aenyurism) leading the doctors to conclude he had an AVM. Since then he’s had an unsuccessful embolization, followed by a successful craniotomy. He is generally healthy today & ejoys being Daddy to our 5 month old, Elijah!
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You have been an amazing testimony & encouragement to me & reminded me of God’s faithfulness and so much more. If nothing else, I had to let you know of the parallels of “our stories” & again share how much I feel that it speaks to the power of the “body”.
    In Christ Alone,

Michelle, I am a friend of Heather’s and just received her e-mail about Mike. I am praying for you and Mike and your family. I know that God is a great healer and that he has the power to do so much more than we can even ask for. I will pass on the information to my prayer group and my church here in Columbia.

May God be with you and strengthen you.

    In the Love of Christ,

    Michelle and Mike,

Jeff and I live down the street from Dan and Heather. We have been praying for MIke’s full recovery and for you and your family. We passed on the information about Mike’s condition to our church (which Heather and Dan attend) Fellowship Baptist in Maineville, OH and so many people are praying for Mike and your family. I hope you can feel the power and peace of all our prayers and that God will sustain your strenth.

    Dear Friends in the Lord,

We attend Amy and Alan Wolf’s church. Amy asked us to pray for Mike. It is our pleasure and privilege to stand in the gap
and fill it with prayers lifted up in your family’s name. We
have learned to pray believing that God will fulfill His promises
and that He loves you. He cares and is working …most when you do not see it. We are a medical family and realize that neurological issues are slow to heal. Praying for patience with the process.
Look for daily joys and keep a journal for Mike. He will be amazed to realize how far he has come when he is more alert. Prayers for him to be free from infection and germs !
With His love and comfort. Have courage !

    Dear Michelle, Eli and Mikaela,
We were so sorry to hear about Mike’s sudden illness. Your whole family is in our prayers and we hope for a full recovery. Mike is such an inspiration to all the young people here in Naperville and we need him and cherish his contributions to YoungLife and WyldLife. If there’s anything we can do to help out please don’t hesitate to ask. No matter if it’s watching the kids so you can take a break, running errands, cooking, or even doing laundry, we’d be happy to help with whatever you need…

    Michelle:

We received the news about Mike a couple of weeks ago through our son, Drew (age 25), who now resides in Boulder, CO. Drew heard the news through the Young Life grapevine, most likely through Ken & Jen Webster, his YL leaders when he was at Geneva High School in the late 90’s. I’m not sure we ever formally met Mike while we served on the YL Committee in Geneva, but I probably saw him at one of the DuPage/Kane County golf outings.

Please be assured of our continued prayers for Mike, you and your kids through this difficult time. As our son, Drew, was touched and inspired through YL to go on to serve part-time with YL in college and beyond, we are certain that Mike has touched hundreds of young peoples’ lives for Christ. We can be sure that God will honor Mike for his faithfulness and bless his life (and yours). We’ll keep praying for a miracle and physical restoration in Mike’s life. I hope that we can meet sometime–we’d really like to meet your children, too! Our thoughts and daily prayers are with you, Michelle.

I wanted to let you know that your posting today 3/19/07 really had a very strong impact on me. I think I’m extra emotional today but reading this really hit home and settled right on my heart. I am praying for all the things you asked readers to pray for. I’m will fast tuesday and wednesday while praying so very hard for Mike and all of you. Yours and Mike’s very personal struggle has directly brought me closer to God. I want to especially tell you that I will pray very passionately for your daughter. I suffered at one time in my life with severe panic attacks. As an adult they were very, very painful, but as a child I can’t even imagine. And as her mother it must hurt so much. God is asking you to be so strong. I am praying for you too. Thank you for sharing all of this with me – on this website. I have talked with Dan every so often about what is going on, but no one can really imagine the toll it has taken on everyone. I will offer up my sins, my weaknesses, my selfish wants and complaints for Mike. I will pray that he gets relief from the pain and discomfort he is feeling. I will pray that you continue to be strong even during times when it’s hard for you to get through. Try during those times to remember that people who don’t even know you are sending you their strength. I can’t walk in your shoes, but In my mind I have tried to put myself there. I’m sending you all the spiritual strength I have. In the middle of the night when Mike needs you and you desperately need your sleep and are struggling, know that I am praying for you. I am.
