About

If you’re on this page, you know Mike Zegarski, and you know that he suffered a brain aneurysm on March 21.  At time of this post, he is in the hospital and is, by family accounts, fighting for his life.

This blog is being set up for several reasons: to provide ways for people to get updates on Mike’s condition, to convey prayer requests, and to allow people that know Mike and Michelle the opportunity to comment, to offer encouragement, prayers, words, whatever.

Ok, there is another reason, too.  Our God is big, and He has a way of creating opportunities in all things for His name to be glorified.  He’s already doing that with what has happened here to Mike.  May we be open to hope big hopes, pray big prayers, and see big things happen for the glory of God and encouragement of all His children.

    Dear Mike and Michelle,
I heard about your story from Jackie. I know what is going on in your life right now. The uncertainty and the worry it is like living in a fog. My husband Charlie had a brain aneurysm in Aug. of 99. He was a very healthy man never sick, until one night he went into a seizure and then did not wake up for 6 weeks. He was in a level 4 coma and did not respond to anyone or anything. He had high fevers they would wrap him in bags of ice. He was on the strongest antibiotics imaginable. The docotor could not promise anything. But I want to tell you that God is still in in control and he will take care of you all. Charlie did finally wake up and he started therapy for 18 months learning how to do eveything all over again. He had to learn to walk and talk and pick up a penny from a table. But God is so good. He is now doing so well and it truly is a miracle. So please don’t be discouraged, I have put Mike on our prayer list at church. I know what’s going on in your life. But all the glory goes to God, and we are on this earth for his purpose only. Pray with him everyday and we will pray for you as well.

While I was going through this trial I used to ask why God, but now 6 years later I look back and see all the wonderful things that have come from that trial and all I can say is that God is so good.

    In Christ,
    God is with you!

    Michelle,

I know you have plenty of people bringing you meals, but I would love to help with that if I can. I know how hard it is to cook with two little ones, and you have more on your plate. It may not be anything exciting, but it is all I can think of to do other than pray. Please let me know if I can join the ranks of those who bring you meals.
    Thanks,
Carla Crane (from NPC and college)

We’ve been following Mike and your journey silently since hte beginning. We are in awe of your fortitude and strength. Hoping that this may bring some solace…all of the kids around here seem to have the same flu…exhaustion, fever around 102…inexplicably, it will be present and then disappear, then reappear, etc for 2-3 weeks. All three of our kids have had it. Hoping this is Mike’s issue and it resolves shortly!

    Michelle,
We have never met, but I came across your website just recently. I want to let you know that Mike, you, and your littles ones are in my thoughts and prayers daily. Your words in your journal entries have been so powerful and are so encouraging. I pray that you always feel the power of God’s love, and His continual love and hand that he has placed on Mike, you and your family. I feel honored to have come across your web site – it is amazing how God work’s, even through the internet. Again, you and your family are continually in my thoughts and prayers.

    In Christ,

    Michelle,
Dropped by and visted your husband today. He was asleep so I didn’t talk much to him. I hope he wakes up. I made tracks for the Chapel and left a note for God. I can’t answer it, He can.

If you want I can come over lots. It would be a help to you and your kids. ( I know your kids love their Dad soooo
    much ).

It would also give you a much needed rest. And break.
God holds you guys, 24/7, 365/12.

Cell Phone number is 272-3731 if you need anything.

Hope Mike continues to do well. The kids must be happy to have their dad back. Hope he gets much better. And that you and him get the rest you need.

Hurray for Mike, read that he is doing so much better, thanks be to God. maybe 2008 will be a year when he can start standing and balancing and then maybe dance around the house for a few weeks, at the joy of recovery and having family and a Big God who helps us so much.

To michelle, please hang in there, your husband will be balancing before you know it.
    Is anything impossible for God?
    No, there isn’t.

    Hi Michelle,
I am a friend of Kirsten’s. My husband and I coached Chase in soccer a couple of years ago. I just wanted to tell you that you and your family are in my prayers. I am proud of you and the wife and mother that you are. You are an example to all of us. Please always remember that you are not alone, as you know God is always there and so are a lot of people praying for you.

I know you already know this as God is always with you, but I felt He wanted me to remind you of that. I am proud of your example as a mother, wife, and sister in Christ. You are in my prayers.

    Mike and Michelle,
I just wanted to say hi and that we’ve been thinking of you now, for 2 years-if that’s possible.
I don’t know why I never checked out your site, I think because the illusion of security is so nice (even when I know I have no control-but refuse to really go there in my heart) and that what you guys have gone through does rock my world and make me wonder at the thin line which keeps everyone from the same injury. How hard for us that in tough times we grow forward in Christ…why can’t I realize this opportunity every day for growth and dependence? Too full of myself and my plans i think. You are not afforded with much time for that it seems. I think God must trust you as he did Mother Theresa…a real person in your weaknesses but strong and courageous.
I don’t know if you remember me, we were on staff in Toledo, we met a few times at Timberwolf for leadership weekends I think, we’re from Kettering in Dayton, Mike and Greg led a cabin together at Champion, and – here’s the funny thing – Mike and I went on a (sort of) date to walk in these woods and hang out. When we went to leave, his “sports mobile or wagon” – this old ratty orange station wagon he was really endeared to- broke it’s starter. So we had to beg a ride from some folks I’d just met that lived close to the park to my house where a friend would come and get him later -and he had to sit there and watch the little mermaid with my family for the rest of the night. Oh yea he wanted to be out of there!! It was one of those perfect flops. But he was graceful and tried to maintain a sense of humor, which I hope he still has.
We’ve kept up with you also through Alan and Amy Wolf in Dayton and through our Ped Dr Z, Mike’s bro.
So, I guess I just wrote to say hi and that we’ve always been pulling for you and Christ at work in and through you. You have blessed me by your writings and I pray that God continues to give you strength to pull people in to help, and hope. God bless you as a mom, and as a wife, and as a percious child of His, He who understands.
Have a great day today and may joy find you unexpectedly b/c of his great mercy and love.
    Susan Lehman
(ps I also feared to write anything b/c what can I really say that everyone hasn’t to help or say hello? So sorry if I sound stupid, but I felt I should say something just to let you know people like me are out here praying for you)

    Mike and Michelle,

I was cleaning my house today and opened up a box of pictures. In this box was hundreds of photos from my high school career. In the photos I found my Frontier Camp experience and a picture of Michelle so happy taking a giant bite out of a cheeseburger when we were picnicing outside. I found Mike dressed up in coveralls and a bandana. I found pictures from your wedding. They were and are very happy memories for me, so I wanted to share that with you.

The two of you helped to make me who I am today, and I am happy with that person, so thank you. Thank you for showing me faith, thank you for showing me fun, trust, life, happiness…

    My prayers are with you.

    Love,
    Johnna

    Hi Michelle & Family,
Michelle, I want you to know how much of an inspiration you are to others. I had no idea what your daily life consists of. The pressures, responsibilities, the stresses, trust and the faith and any other feeling you may experience. Your story opens the eyes of others to make us realize how quickly life changes. I will make sure to pray for you and your family. I will pray for the strength you need to get through everyday and for your husband to continue to have the will to keep going and keep trying to get to the next goal and challenge he faces. And for those little kids, how strong and patient they must be at such a young age. If only there was a way to teach our kids a little bit about what your kids have to go through. Anyway I am sure a note like this probably doesn’t help much, but in my eyes you are a hero to your family. Lots of thoughts and prayers will be coming from us.

    Stay strong.

    Jorie Kasper and family
