11/1/08 — Mike is eating again!

November 1, 2008 at 9:23 pm 26 comments

Great news!  Mike passed a swallowing test last Thursday sufficiently to permit him to now eat foods with the consistency of apple sauce!  So, yesterday we picked up a variety of different flavors of apple sauce and some yogurts.  Mike is enjoying tasting food again, and the swallowing will continue to train and strengthen his throat muscles and coordination.  And, of course, it’s nice to see him get a bit of his normal life back.

We had an exciting Halloween.  Mike’s brother Dan and his family came up, so we all went out trick-or-treating.  Cousins Will and Michael joined McKaela and Eli, and the kids brought in quite a haul of treats.

Mike’s voice is stronger and his speech faster than ever, too.  So, visit if you can.  Mike would love to see you.

“Whatever you ask of My Father in My name, He will give you.”

    I did and He did!

Thank you Father God from all of your faithful. We praise you.

You are continuing to restore Michael each and every day.

To Mike, Michelle, McKaela, and Eli….You are in my prayers continually. My love for you is forever everlasting. Mom

Awesome! I am so excited to hear about passing a really big test! The very simple pleasures of life that are so taken for granted! That is great! What flavor of yogurt is the best????? This must be a great encouragement to all of your spirits too. It was great to see you both at the banquet last night.

    Love,

    Emily

    Mike,

What wonderful news, Praise be to our Father. I could see changes in the past few months that your voice was getting stronger. Keep up the hard work! You asked that we pray for a miracle. Isn’t God just wonderful on how He answers prayers?

I knew you COULD DO IT. What a great start. I praise God along with you. Maybe by Thanksgiving/Christmas you could be eating more than soft foods. Yes, yes. What a wide prayer community we have.

Hey girl, I love finding out how Mike is doing and you and the kids.
Praise our Lord for his hand in your life. Sweet Michelle I don’t know how you do all of this. You are amazing and so strong.
I pray for all of you daily. You may not know that people pray for you who are miles away like me in Charleston ,SC but I do.
Wishing you each day a better day. Please tell Mike how much I love him and what a impact he made of my life and Lindsey’s
    Love you boat loads,

    Hey Mike-

Polar Bear weekend was awesome with the ACCESS kids. A few minor meltdowns, a seizure or two, and a panic attack – none of which dampened the joy and excitement of the weekend. I wish you could have seen it. Troy dancing with the staff, Brian singing “Cherie Baby” for the whole group to huge applause, Luke getting a blast of shaving cream by Randy, dodge ball acts of courage all around – just a few of the great memories. Megan and Justin did a great job organizing the whole thing. They got the kids to do more than I ever dreamed possible. Special recognition to Kurt F (who is now hooked on the Access ministry I think) and Scott, Sushi and John and Tim and Jimmy, and to Kim P who is the best ever with Luke and his friends.

I hope you can come see the group soon. Luke wants see you and watch a Bugs Bunny cartoon with you.
