8/19/08 yay!

so…a lovely few days.  mike is sometimes reticent to enjoy outings.  he doesn’t always articulate a reason and i wonder whether sometimes he just feels too much risk in leaving the house for an unknown, even compelling experience.  but we went to a friend’s barbeque friday night and mike stayed at least 45 minutes longer than i expected.  our whole outing stretched to 3 hours with no complaints.  he just said he had a great time, no sore butt.  then we were privileged to attend the wedding of a Young Life family and delight in memories and company and a beautiful celebration and service.  and again, mike lasted much longer than i had anticipated.  AND we got the stander delivered monday.  so hip hip hooray!  this will address any turning of his feet as he puts weight back on those tendons for up to 45 minutes a day in this gorgeous monstrosity.  he is feisty and very much himself.  and it is so good to see him enjoying a great party lately.  thanks for your faithfulness in this long haul, michelle

When Addy and I prayed at bedtime last night she asked how Mike was doing. I will be glad to tell her the stander has been delivered as well as the other details you mentioned. So glad you have numerous things about which you can be encouraged. We keep you in our prayers. Gwen

You can do it. Go on again and try.
Sorry haven’t been able to send much notes because of tiredness from the rain. Been a bit tired lately, who can say.
Go on and do it-Sabina Wurmbrand.

Hello and love to all…and wondering how the kindergarten girl is doing? God never allows you to be far from my thoughts and prayers….

Hoping that the stamina – both emotional and physical – is continuing to increase.

    Yo Mike-

I visited our favorite dentist, Jeff Grimley, today and we marveled together over the progress you’ve made. I told him to jab your gums with a sharp dental instrument for me (just kidding) at your appointment coming up.

Luke told me you were at Young Life Access a couple of weeks ago. The conversation (while we were walking Puttley)was like this:

    L – “I saw your friend Mike”

    Me – “Really, where?”

L- “You know, at Young Life”

Me – “Really (JoAnne and I were out of town for that meeting). How was he doing?”

L- “Good. I talked to him. We talked about Nunny (Bugs bunny) cartoons.”

You have to know Luke to appreciate how momentus this is, that he would remember Mike, and talk to Mike, and then tell me about it weeks later -it’s a huge thing. He looked for you last week also. You’d have loved it – loads of kids – high energy – a great talk by Justin (at their level).

    Matt

PS We’re looking for leaders, adults and students, in case someone reading this is interested. We meet on alternate Friday nights at Naperville Presb. Church on Rickert, from 7-8:30 pm. No experience necessary, just a heart to serve. You WILL be blessed.
