we have had an exciting week. i was saving it a bit as a surprise for family but it’s more fun to tell–we have a new minivan that is able to transport mike. we had a great friend looking out for us that put us in contact with an incredibly gracious woman who was ready to part with her handicapped minivan. She had been able to continue transporting her husband to church and Bible studies during his battle with ALS. It was such a privilege to meet her and be blessed by her advice and experience and perspective. and we have been out joyriding every night this week since getting it! Mike got to drive by our old haunts (NCHS and asundry YL offices of years past), watch the kids playing all over the park at the riverwalk, and we even visited the willow treed setting of our wedding 9 years ago on our anniversary yesterday. pain comes and goes (so mike prefers our trips to stay on the shorter side), we have our information consult about surgery on september 25 and the Ohio golf tournament is happening september 29! the joyrides will pass the time till all that! praise and glory, michelle

Michelle, its so great to hear about the minivan! I’m thrilled for you all. Sorry our internet has been on the blink for quite some time and wanted to check in with you all. Needless to say, it seems that there are some cool improvements since the last time I checked in (which I’m sure you can’t see from day to day!) I really appreciated your note on how you are being “spent” and truly do know that we are so blessed by your testimony and the way you are trusting God thru this situation.

Met Rick Spriggs this past week and its neat to see how God is leading them over to our side of the pond. What has happened to the Wd. night meetings?

I am amazed that you went to WYLD Life camp– absolutely unreal. I’m sure God used your life in an amazing way in the lives of the kids.

God bless you and Eli and McKaela today! May Mike know God’s peace and keep us updated. May you find strength in the Lord like never before.

    In Christ, Beth Ann

PRAISE GOD from whom ALL BLESSINGS FLOW. We rejoice with you in the wonderful gift of this van for trips down memory lane as well as creating new memories. Continuing to uphold you all in prayer especially the 25th and the 29th of this month. With much love and admiration, Debbie

I’m so glad that you were blessed with this gift in your lives. What a huge difference it is to be able to get out of the house and travel about. I’m glad your family can now spend time together *outside* of the home! Sunshine and a change-of-scenery always helps the spirit…

Thank you for speaking life and truth to one who feels “spent” oftentimes. You, my friend, are a great witness to each of us who have the pleasure of reading your updates. May the Lord continue to bless you and use you as surely your life is well-spent.

God is amazing! Praise God for all answered prayers. May you continue to “roam” Naperville and find new places to take Mike and the kids. What freedom you must feel. Prayers for continued good health and that all upcoming dr appts go well. Praise God!

    Love and prayers,

Seeing you guys last night at leadership was a blessing to me. The way you two hold hands and have physical and spiritual attachment encourages me to have perseverance through anything Christ puts in front of me. It was so nice to have Mike around. I’ve been involved, either as a student of a leader, in the Naperville/Aurora area for 7 years, and Mike has always been there. He was an encouragement to me, I remember one time he video taped me for a banquet video and I felt so special because MIKE ZEGARSKI wanted ME to be in a video! And one time in high school I went to the office with some friends and he was there and he knew my name, and I was like woah, this guys cares about not just the central kids, but all kids in younglife. Last night when he sat in the room with us I still felt him being that Mike Zegarski, the one that so many of us have been encouraged by. Thank you so much Michelle for bringing your family last night, and for having an ever present smile on your face that lights up the room. You two, are amazing examples of what it means to be a child of God.

Steph’s comment above “MIKE ZEGARSKI wanted ME” really hit me hard because even though I’m close to 20 years older than Mike he made me feel wanted and needed at a deep level. He didn’t do this in a manipulative or false way–he really means that me and Steph (and you who are reading this) ARE wanted and needed. I believe this is one of the great gifts God has given Mike, and that gifting continues to strike me every time I’m with him. Even when his sentences are short and his speech is quiet. Maybe more so, now that I think about it. Now that Mike is getting out more (yahoo!) more of us can enjoy that same ol’ Mike.
