we made it just past 2 months without getting admitted to the hospital.  but arghh, today got the best of us.  mike experienced a short seizure this morning and was in an altered unresponsive state for about a half an hour afterwards before returning to normal and moaning and following me with his eyes.  we did send him to the emergency room and they admitted him for a few days.  they will measure his brain activity with an EEG.  and they are giving him a new dose of an antiseizure medicine he had previously been weaned from.  so, it is fun that the hospital staff who usually sees him at his least responsive when he is so sick will have a chance to see him a bit healthier.  other than that i might have to keep brainstorming some more positives.  but he is on the 4th floor of the north building.  please stop by!  i believe it is room 417.  God holds each of our days in his hands.  we just try to live them to the full.  amen,    michelle

    Hello Michelle and Mike:

It has been too long since I have written. I am so sorry.

“other than that i might have to keep brainstorming some more positives”

I am still amazed at your faith! Some say there are no miracles anymore. I don’t! Back in the Jesus’ day, the people were amazed. It is the same amazing stuff that you do, say and feel today! You are an amazing woman of God! Keep standing! There is a hint of discouragment in your note. Do not be discouraged. We are standing with you. I know it doesn’t feel that way with seizures and no sustained communication from Mike. But fear, dispair, discouragment and disappointment are all the tools of the evil one.

THE LORD IS NEAR! He will not give you anything that you can not bear up under. It will not feel that way, however. It will feel overwhelming some of the time. So I say, “Stand”! I am standing with you – and hundreds, lo thousands are standing with you, too. And that is not counting the angels! Just think of that for a moment – the angels are standing with you, next to you – holding you up.

Rest, oh brave one! Rest in their standing. Rest in His arms. Rest at His feet.

“Sing, oh daughter of Zion; shout aloud, O Isreal! Be glad and rejoice with all of your heart, O Daughter of Jerusalem! The Lord has taken away your punishment, he has turned back your enemy. The Lord, the KIng of Israel, is with you; never again will you fear any harm. On that day they will say to Jerusalem, “Do not fear, O daughter of Zion; do not let your hands hang limp. The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love and rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:14-17.

Can you hear Him singing? Can you hear it? Can you see His face? There is a smile, like no smile I have ever seen, it is a smile of delight. You are His delight. There is that singing again! Can you hear it? Rest in His love, enjoy His quieting you – bask in His delight in you! Be not afraid!

    Love, Steve

Michelle and family, I do keep updated on Mike and I keep all of you in my prayers. I know saying if you need anything is an understatement, but if there is ever anything that I can do, please let me know. You all are always in my thoughts and prayers. Tell the little ones hello for me, give them, Mike and yourself a hug for me. God Bless.

    Selina

I feel so sick knowing that you are back in the hospital…I continue to pray for you and share my frustration with God over the continued pain, both physical and emotional, for all of you. Words seem inadequate, so I am just continuing to give it to Him.

    You are so loved….

JoAnne, Luke and I stopped by Mike’s room on Saturday for a brief visit. Mike was dozing. I figured waking him wouldn’t hurt so we did. He woke easily and made bright eye contact. He wasn’t verbal, though I got a few good squeezes from his left hand when I asked questions. We prayed with him and hugged him. The Edward staff (as usual) were great.

I would hope others could stop by. The days must get long for him so offer some encouragement and love if you can. The nurse thought he’d be there a few days (mid-week?).

I stopped by the hospital today for a visit. Mike didn’t talk at all, but he touched my heart in a way that I will never forget. As I walked in he was sleeping and I just sat there for about an hour wondering how he was feeling, where he had pain, if my visit meant anything to him, and if he woke up would he even remember me. I sat next to him until a nurse came in to clean him up a bit and then he woke up. I told him who I was because I didn’t think he would remember me, but then he winked at me and I just started talking to him. I felt like everything was just so surreal. I found myself releasing my anxieties on him and even though he never responded, he just showed me great love by listening. I updated him on my life, younglife, how God is in my life, and we looked through the photo album of his beautiful loving family and friends. But, for once to have someone contently listening, it just felt like I was in front of God because he just left me feeling important, his presence was so calm that he made me feel safe, and he never lost eye contact with me except to blink. After leaving I felt so cleansed and so fresh that I was so appreciative of just the spirit that Mike had inside of him. Even in his condition now he continues to teach us lessons, but most of all love us. Thank you so much LORD for having Mike reach out to us in ways we didn’t know.
