i don’t have much real news.  mike had a mostly quiet day but besides that he has been consistent about saying a few phrases every day.  it is exciting for anyone who is here to catch him for a conversation to have him respond just in this limited way.  we had yet another incredibly gracious dinner delivered and set up our flowers and candles in mike’s room, sat him up in bed and had an elegant family tv dinner watching charlie brown valentine’s specials.  i explained to mckaela that a valentine tradition is to have dinner with those you love.  we  blessed the meal and thanked God for this special time to be together.

on the horizon, our doctor will be checking in next week to see that mike’s speech is consistent and we may get a speech therapist back out to work toward goals again.  and, dare i say it aloud?  mike has avoided the hospital since those first days of january (could they even forget our name over there?) and i am waiting on word from the neurosurgeons on possibly scheduling the (cosmetic, technically) surgery to get his skull plate put back in.  that surgery hinges on his continued health.  i always wait to see what each day brings but these are tomorrow’s potentials.  pray for all things in perfect time…God’s way.  love and grace,   michelle

I still remember Greg Carlson at TimberWolf Lake a year ago telling Mike and I about YOUR Mike and the shock and dismay I felt at hearing such news. Since then I check this site almost daily. I’ve only met you briefly, Michelle, but I feel like I’ve gotten to know a very special person over this year reading your emails. You have blessed me by your quiet and humble wisdom and your strength and tenacity that comes so evidently from your Faith in the One and Only One who can meet ALL our needs. God bless you today, Michelle. And know today that somebody is praying for you in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

As Dr. Michael Easley said yesterday (Moody Bible Institue pres), there is no testimony without a test. We can shout yours from the Heavens as God continues to use YOU for all of US. Some days I just wish He didn’t “trust you so much” as Mother Teresa reminded us.

I can so picture you and your two little bits surrounding Mike, having that dinner as a foursome>>>>>> May He continue to give you the strength and courage for today.

    Love,

    Emily B.

    Mike and Michelle,
I think about the two of you constantly, and it brings me great joy to hear that Mike is home and communicating (though in a very limited manor).

Michelle, you amaze me with your unwavering faith and your ability to find peace in such rough waters.

Mike, you have always amazed me with your strength, and I pray everyday that you can dig deap to find the patience you will need on your path to recovery. Everytime I come to this sight I am awe stricken by the power of faith, and motivated to drop the mostly insignificant worries of this world and to find happiness in the many wonderful ways I have been blessed in this life. Who would have guessed that you could continue to inspire others even in an incapicated state. Amazing.

We love you and keep you in our prayers

    Mark, Leslie, T.J. and Sarah

    Hi Mike and Michelle —
Glad to hear about your family Valentine’s day! Michelle — I was at Elmhurst College last night for a Wheaton vs. Elmhurst basketball game and the Jayhawks pulled through! I was thinking of you and Mike though because I was reminded of the hilarious story you told me about the two of you meeting at Elmhurst with you wearing the beret. I love that story! Anyway, just wanted to let you I got a chuckle thinking of you in the beret and am glad to hear Mike has been hospital free for so long. Hope the Perry’s gave you my number – I would still love to babysit anytime!
    amazed,
    tricia
