every day i have to answer someone’s question about how mike is doing.  and the answer is basically, “um, not great”.  he is looking a little better than the worst of monday night but he is still weak and quiet.  he still has lungs clogged with gunk and is running fevers daily only broken up by a cooling blanket and tylenol.  then people ask how i am doing and i answer, “um, pretty good”, and it is weird because there is no reason to be anything but discouraged.  yet my spirits lifted inexplicably.  so thank you for the prayer.  thank you for the partnership.  God is certainly in this place.  with us.  thanks,  michelle

    Hey Michelle-

I am praying for you right now. And I’ll ask Amy’s class of Kindergartners here in Colombia to do the same during their prayer time. Kids prayers are heard better at times, I think. More sincerity, less clutter,

    Love you!

    Matt

    Ephesians 3:19-21

19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Michelle-may you continue to feel the “warm blanket of prayers and love” that surround you, Mike and your precious children. We all wish for you a restoration of MIke’s body and mind. We stand united with you and experience the ups and downs of this journey alongside you. We can never truly understand what you are going through but remain grateful that your eye is on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as His eye is on you and Mike. We are also glad that you feel our love and prayers that know no bounds for two such dearly loved servants. Consider yourself hugged.

Michelle and Mike, I wanted you to know that Brett talked about you all at the National Board Meeting yesterday and you all were lifted up in prayer then and also in today’s hour long prayer time. You are very much an encouragement to many. Prayers are with you from all over the world…Love, Gail

As always you are in our prayers. I am not even sure what to write anymore. Thank you for your faithfulness and willingness to share with people you do not even know. You are amazing, God is amazing. Each day I wonder how you “manage” and I know it is because of God. As a mom of young kids I cannot fathom what you are going through, but I know God is carrying you. He knows your deepest needs better than anyone. Continue to lean on Him and anyone else you need to.

Tell Mike we love him and are praying for him and all of you.

    Love and prayers,
    Heather Schmidt

    Michelle,

You may not remember me, but my family and I used to attend St. John’s when you were the Youth Group leader there. I just want you to know that we’re all praying for you and Mike. Your faith is truly inspiring…I’ve thought that since I met you years ago. I just want to let you know that as my Youth Group leader, you really made a big impact on my life, and I’m always keeping you and Mike in my prayers.

    Mike & Michelle,

It’s been some time since I’ve sent any messages, but you’re in our thoughts and prayers daily. I know you hear often how your trials right now are growing you and others around you.

I recently had a chance to visit with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while. Her son has been in the NICU for a little over a month now. She tells me that she’s not sure how she’s gotten through the last month and where she’ll find the strength to continue this journey. I told her your story and shared the ways that our amazing Lord has worked in your lives – to provide in ways that you at times could never have thought to even pray for. Your trials… your story… your faith… touched her heart when she needed just that.

As I watch the OSU/Michigan game today, I think about my friend Mike… who shares my passion for those crazy buckeyes, my faith in a powerful and almighty God… and has more strength than I’ll ever understand.

    I love you guys!
    Lisa

As I prayed for you so often this week, God continually brought to mind “It is well with my soul”….When sorrow like sea billows roll….Whatever thy lot – it is well with my soul….You are living that in front of our eyes with a strength and faith that only He can provide. My heart aches for you, yet swells with pride over your enduring the road that you have been chosen to travel. To feel your spirits lift at such a time as this is surreal, and I am amazed and thankful that you have some temporary respites.

I thank Him that you are leaning into Him.

    We love you.

Hang in there Michelle, you are truly an inspiration to us all and your faith is one which should be admired. You continue to amaze me and I will keep praying for you, Mike, and the kids as these tough times continue.

    God Bless,
