a quick update–mike has been running a fever fairly consistently the last few days and missed therapy yesterday.  they decided to send him in to the ER at Edward to get tests again to check for an new infection.  no telling yet whether they will keep him or release him (like a fish).  i will write if he heads back to manorcare.  otherwise, assume he is at edward for visiting…  praying for progress, michelle

We will be praying for conclusive tests as Mike is in the hospital this time. Hopefully this will be the last battle with infection so he can be free to participate in therapy. We love you all and wait expectantly for good news.

We will continue to pray for Mike and this ongoing fever. Prayers that the doctors and others can treat it so you all can move forward. Praise God that we live somewhere with so many healthcare professionals available.

God bless you all and we are praying for good news! Love, Heather Schmidt

Hey Michelle…It’s been a long time, since we’ve chatted; however, I have been keeping up on Mike’s progress through this blog, so thank-you for being so faithful to write.

I left YL staff a few years ago, after being led to the local church. We were in MN for a few years and have since settled in Phoenix, AZ working for Harvest Bible Chapel. All that to say, I will be in Chicago in a couple weeks for some training and wondered if I could at least stop by to visit Mike. I have been faithful in praying for him and your family throughout this time and hope that I could work it into my schedule while I am there.

One thing: I am not familiar with where he is at…Could you e-mail me at your convenience with that detail? (seth@harvestnorthphoenix.org)

Like I said earlier…you have been a real witness to both my wife and I. Please Keep On!
    Stand Firm,

Michelle, your continued strength and faith always blow me away. I check on Mike’s progress about every 3-4 weeks. Despite everything you have been going through in the last 9 months, you always have such words of gratitude, belief, thankfulness and so much more I can’t even put it into words. You are a strong women, I know having Christ in your life has built you this way. I want you to know I continue to keep ALL of you in my prayers. Angela-ICU RN at Edward.

…..”Don’t be afraid. Just trust Me.” Mark 5:36

But I keep right on praying to you, Lord. For now is the time- you are bending down to hear! You are ready with a plentiful supply of love and kindness. Now answer my prayer and rescue me as you promised. Psalms 69:13

Thank the Lord for your sense of humor….Even in the dark times you have an relentless positive spirt that flows from you. I shudder to think how I would be in your situation, and I praise God for your strenght. I also ask Him for rest as you are in this battle for the long haul.

    Hey Michelle-

I ran into the Redhawk stinky 5 yesterday in the waiting room on Mike’s floor at Edward. Mike was downstairs for a test so I didn’t get to see him. But I left with clear sinuses. I’m sure ALL Mike’s senses were stimulated by their presence. They are a great group of guys–it was great to see them and Shelli there to support Mike!

    Love ya!

Michelle and Mike and family, I’m sorry it has been so long since I’ve checked the website. As you can imagine, I’m a little behind on life with our 8 week old! I’m finally clearing out my email inbox and just wanted you all to know I have prayed for you all over the last few weeks. I’m sure it is very hard to face what you are going thru each day. I am so thankful for the free babysitting you have and pray that more people will have the courage to stop in and visit to continue to bring hope to Mike and you.
Sorry to hear about the fever and hoping things have improved. Truly your faithfulness and sharing your heart is an inspiration. I’m glad you liked the book– you sure didn’t need to even send a thank you note. I just wrote that email to make sure you knew where the book came from since I ordered it over Amazon! I found it so inspiring.

Dear Lord, I pray for incredible peace today. I pray for complete healing. I pray for laughter and joy. I pray for rested, well kids who obey at all times (ok, well most of the time) sleep for hours at night and say cute things! I pray for strength, energy, and perspective, truly eternal perspective for Michelle

Well the stinky 5 turned out to be the stinky 6. When Mike was ready to come back from his procedure, the nurse asked the boys if they wanted to escort Mike back upstairs. I’m not sure if Mike was ready for the shock! Alittle different from the usual transport staff! The guys were all very excited to tell Mike alittle of what has been going on with each of them. They all told him how much they missed him and the football team missed his prayers before the games. Mike did mouth a “probably” in response to maybe watching some team films that Coach Stine said he could arrange for him. I know Andy has said he will try to go to see him if possible after the early practices on Thursdays and bring different kids with him that were unable to go last night. The nurse did say that when the guys were there it was the most awake that she has seen him. I hope that we can find a few minutes out of our busy schedules to spend with Mike.As always our prayers and thoughts are with you and Mike and your family.
    God Bless,
P.S. Thanks Shelly for planning the guys visit…it was amazing for them.
