Yesterday and today were great days for Mike.

He has had physical and occupational therapy both days, and he has been actively participating in the sessions, notwithstanding the last four weeks of unresponsiveness!  Mike is sitting upright (at the edge of his bed) for the sessions, and complying with the therapists requests.  He has raised his head, he has squeezed hands, and he has opened his mouth.  Mike will also wave goodbye when visitors leave, so we are seeing some bigger arm movements.  (I haven’t seen the sessions, but these are some of the highlights I’ve been told.)  Needless to say, though, after a month of almost no activity and no compliance with verbal requests, this is VERY EXCITING news to share!

We are told that Mike’s leg strength is good, and that there will soon be efforts to have him standing.  (We’ll try not to forget to mention that when it happens.) 

Say a prayer of thanks for all of this, of course, but also for the care Mike continues to receive.  At ManorCare, he has again been met with medical professionals who are taking a deep interest in his progress, and who have the highest hopes for him.  Mike is clearly matching their efforts with his own, proving again what a fighter he is.

As always, thanks for loving enough to pray as you have been.

    Praise God!! Go Mike!!! Thank you Jesus for compassionate care at Manor Care! The blessings come down as the prayers go up. Go prayer warriors! What exciting news–thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work everyone and let’s not forget to keep the insurance case worker in our prayers as well.

    Praise be to God!!! I pray that you will continue to work diligently in Mike and that you continue to pour your comfort and strength into Michelle and the rest of the family — but Michelle the most.

    Michelle – I am continually awed by the way God is working in you and through you in this trying time. May you be renewed even more during your week with the young girls in Michigan.

    Watching/reading about your family during these months really is a wonderful picture of “prayers went up and Heaven came down” Jesus is standing right beside you!

    This is GREAT NEWS! We will continue to pray for steady and increased progress, we know Mike is capable. Know that the prayers will not stop from Burbank, CA.     It was so great to get such positive news! Keep up the good work Mike, and hang in there Michelle (like anyone needs to tell you to do that!). Hope you have a great trip to Michigan…I am sure you are pretty torn about leaving but I am sure you can use this break ,so enjoy! Jim and I are coming up to see Mike on August 17th so we will look forward to seeing you then.

    Many of us are excited by that news. I have a question: what does the insurance company need to see specifically? Are the recent improvements enough or do they have protocol for this situation? I continue to be in prayer for you all. Take care.

    What great news! We visited Mike just 3 weeks ago in the hospital when he was for the most part unresponsive, so it is such a blessing to hear this testimony of the miracles God is working even now in Mike’s life. We pray for God’s continued grace & healing for Mike daily.
