Quick update:  Mike is soon to be released from Central DuPage, but it is unclear where he will go from there.  Because he does not appear responsive enough for rehab at Marianjoy, he may be placed in a facility which offers skilled nursing until he is ready for more.  Right now, the issue seems to be placement in a suitable facility which is in or near Naperville, and the discharge coordinator at CDH is now working on this.

Please pray for the best placement opportunity, and that Mike’s future caregivers will be encouraging and caring, and that they will believe in Mike as we do.  Pray also for the progress that will enable Mike to return quickly to rehab.

    Hi Michelle,
Mike’s life is so important to all of us. I trust God is preparing the staff that will lovingly care for him. Of course, they will believe in him as they see all God created him to be and do. Once they meet you, your family, and the Zegarski family their lives will be changed forever. They will realize they are an integral part of God’s big plan.
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.” Col. 3:15
    God is in control.

Michelle – I believe that the way will be made clear for you and that Mike’s placement will be just the right fit. Perhaps there are lives at the new facility that you and your family need to touch as part of God’s plan. Always know that however scary the road that God is in control and He will work all things together for good. I pray for your family every day.

Michelle, Thank you for sharing your journey so honestly and consistently with all of us. It is a privilege for us to pray and to see your heart and God’s faithfulness in the midst of your pain and the unknown. We are praying for you, Mike, and your children. I am thinking how you and Mike shared your lives and built into us and our children through Young Life faithfully for years….now God is still teaching us through you in a different and more challenging way. I am sorry it is so difficult right now….but because we all know it is, it is that much clearer how real He is in your lives and how much we all need to know and depend upon Him for every breath and every blessing each day. Thank you for your example. I pray God provides much comfort and hope for you today.

    Brian

I’m a member of the Prayer Line at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, and Heather Schmidt keeps us posted on Mike’s progress.

Many years ago, a friend said to me that “The Psalms were written for people in trouble”. I hope that these words bring you comfort and hope.

I lift up my eyes to the hills –
From where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
    Who made heaven and earth.
    -Psalm 121:1-2

I’m just one person in the army of people praying for both of you as you live in love for God and for each other. May you feel Him surrounding you with His peace and comfort throughout each and every day.

    With Christian love, Arline Johnson
