no real news to share except to notice that Mike cannot help but see the measure of your love through the unceasing flood of friendly faces checking up on him.  thank you for visits, some easy, some hard, some encouraging or surprising.  thank you for continuing to pour yourselves out for our family through cards, care, prayer, and meals.  we are dazed by God’s grace.  some friends stopped by today before heading out for a camp assignment this month.  Mike’s story will highlight Christ’s resurrection in our friend’s Thursday night talks every week in July.  it is an honor and joy to get to see how God would use Mike even and especially now.  May he be a witness to many.  May God speak loudly through Mike’s life.  (And pray for Bob as he delivers the good news of the Savior’s costly love to kids this month.)  How you love us is an incredible witness as well.  Thanks for such a gift.    -michelle

    Mike and Michelle,

I think I can safely speak for many when I say that we are all so grateful for the gift of you two! I know so many people who don’t know Mike but ask me about him all the time – it gives me yet another opportunity to talk about God’s love, his grace and his amazing gifts of healing and faithfulness. I know so many people who ask how you can be so strong, how you can keep the faith through a trial like this. We know the answer, don’t we?… “for when I am weak, then I am strong”… “my grace is sufficient for you”… “trust in the Lord with all your heart”… “the Lord your God goes with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you”….

My prayer is that your witness of God’s goodness is touching those around you and that you are encouraged not just by what others are doing for you but by what you are doing for others. Our amazing Lord is certainly using Mike in wonderful and mysterious ways right now.

Be strong… rest in Him… and remember that when you are weak, He is strong.

HI! I decided that I am going to try and write a little something everyday. You are always in my thoughts. I continue to go back to the day I talked to Mike (the day before this happened) and our conversation. I treasure it now and long to talk to him again about sports and starting up YL at the “new” high school.

As I told you before Mike, you are amazing. We love you and continue to pray for all of you. Some days that doesn’t seem like enough, but God is good and He will tell us what you need.

God Bless you two! Keep the faith!

    Love and continued prayers,
    Heather

    Mike and Michelle,
Mak and I head toward Lake Champion early tomorrow as camp physicians for the coming week. We will carry you both in our hearts – thanking the Lord for the gift of yourselves to others and praying that the support and progress for both of you will continue. May you be surrounded by God’s grace and friends as you move forward!

From my reading today: Grace for the Moment by M. Lucado: God is not a miser with his grace. Your cup may be low on cash or clout, but it is overflowing with mercy.

Michelle & Mike, may you continue to see evidence of God’s overflowing mercy.

    Hi Again!

Here I am writing another comment about what who knows? I just wanted to thank both of you for your continued service to Naperville and so many kids. It is amazing to see what God has done through you and the fruits of your labor.

Hopefully Walt and I will be able to visit again soon. I told Walt I am bringing the sports page to read to you. I am tired of hearing about the Tigers, but Walt needs something to brag about. Take care and we will keep in fervent prayer.

    Love,
    Heather

Marty and I went to visit Mike Sat. and what a suprise to see what great progress he has made!

We had just come from Neuqua after sending our Sam off to YL camp in Frontier Ranch, Co. It is truly amazing to see those 70 some kids pile in those 2 buses and pull away with such entusiasm.

We were telling Mike all about it and then somehow got on the topic of fishing, because Sam loves to fish. We asked Mike if he liked fishing and he said yes. But he said what he really liked was having coffee with his mom!

I encourage more of you to visit him if you haven’t yet.

God is clearly present at work with him.

Hello again, just wanted to check in on your guys. We have been wondering how things are and it truly is encouraging to read when its been a little while since we have checked in. God is working in His miraculous ways, even though it might seem such slow progress to you, when I read about what He has done recently it brings us such joy. Once again I am so happy for you all that the trach is out, that swallowing is beginning in a positive way and that communication is beginning to happen. We are sure that it is a hard incredibly frustrating process, and one where you are both learning GREAT patience. WOW, God sure has great plans for you both to allow this into your lives. We are convinced you are making a huge impact even now, when you can’t see it and probably feel so discouraged.

Hang in there, may you experience God’s peace today. Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever…. what a great reminder when our life circumstances change so dramatically.

    In Christ,

    the Hunters
