Mike has encountered a few difficulties over the last week, but he appears to be back on track with his therapy at Marianjoy.  If all goes as planned, his doctors will likely remove his trach this Friday, permitting the opening in his throat to close.  (With his ability to swallow being strong, Mike no longer needs the assistance which the trach was originally installed to supply.)

His doctors are also taking some measures (possibly slightly more aggressive) which should assist Mike with the physical and occupational therapy directed at his leg strength and movement.

Please pray that Mike's progress will continue, and that he will be guarded against despair.  And please try to visit Mike, if you are in the area, to encourage him.

Mike and Mark Lehner are hoping to make it up to Chicago from Dayton this weekend. to visit with Mike. Are there any guidelines for visitors they need to know as they plan their trip—visitings hours etc. Don’t want to bother Michelle with this so if anyone has this information please let us know!

I have visited Mike several times, both in ICU and at MarianJoy. I felt a little wierd at first, because I felt like I was intruding on Mike and Michelle and it was hard seeing a strong guy like Mike laid up. It sort of made me realize how vulnerable I am–something I don’t like to think about. But now I see the great encouragement to Mike and Michelle and I want to encourage everyone to stop by MarianJoy at visiting hours (4 and 8 pm). MarianJoy is located just west of Wheaton on south side of Roosevelt road. It’s got a big sign so it’s easy to find. Mike is in the Rehab hospital at the southern end of the complex–just follow the signs. There is a parking garage right by the entrance to his building-I think it’s entrance #6. It’s very easy to find his room. Just sign it with the security guy — he’ll give you Mike’s room number and directions. The staff is very helpful and kind and they appreciate your effort to visit. I believe they allow adults only. Remember, he’s the same guy as before even if his body is holding him back right now. So relax, have fun and just chat with him.You will find a great blessing in visiting Mike–guaranteed.

Mark and I are planning on coming up and spending as much time as he’ll have us for on Sunday. I was told the visiting hours on Sundays were from 9:00am – 8:00 pm. If anyone can confirm this I would appreciate it. Also wanted to confirm that the Marianjoy is in Wheaton on Roosevelt Rd. Mark and I are so excited to see Z and let him know how much everyone from his old days at Alter and in Dayton are pulling for him.

Mark and Mike Lehner-what a wonder gift for Mike–your presence and the support you bring from so many. May God bless your journey to Wheaton and your visit with Mike.
