Mike's Monday assessment at Marionjoy provided just a little bit of information.  They are excited with his progress and are basically working toward all the same goals they were aiming for the week he transferred out.  So they are planning on capping his trach all day today to see how he does.  They are also working on swallowing with him and hope to do a test where they feed him blue-dyed apple sauce and then see if any blue stuff comes out through his trach hole.  If he keeps all the food in his esophagus instead of his trachea then he can move on toward eating!  They are also keeping an eye on his moods.  They are estimating that they will keep him at Marionjoy for five weeks which would take him through mid-July.  We are excited at his quick progress and praise God for his faithfulness.  Please pray for these continued goals.  May God bless you as you bless us!

    Hello Mike and Michelle:

(I am assuming you read these to Mike!)

I was reading Psalm 66 in the Message:

    Psalm 66 “The Message”

8 Bless our God, O peoples!
    Give him a thunderous welcome!
9 Didn’t he set us on the road to life?
Didn’t he keep us out of the ditch?
    10 He trained us first,
passed us like silver through refining fires,
11 Brought us into hardscrabble country,
pushed us to our very limit,
12 Road-tested us inside and out,
    took us to hell and back;
    Finally he brought us
    to this well-watered place.

In the New English translation, verse 12 ends with “He brought us to a place of refreshment.”

That is what I continue to pray for you two and your family.

I know we are being refined, brought into hard scrabble land, pushed to the limit, road-tested inside and out, taken to hell and back BUT HE WILL FINALLY TAKE US TO A WELL-WATERED PLACE – A PLACE OF REFRESHMENT.

I met you a number of years ago at the YL golf marathon at the Orchard Lakes golf course. Most recently, I’ve been actively supporting the Glen Ellyn & Wheaton YL Area in working to develop relationships with our local churches and the Young Life team.

I have been praying for you since you entered the hospital. I know we have a God of miracles and I’m praying for you every day for His miracle of healing, restoration, and wisdom for the doctors. I am also praying for Michelle and the children for His peace and comfort. I also wanted to let you know that you have 10 – 15 guys lifting you up in prayer every Wednesday morning.

Peace be with you and your family.

    Your Brother in Christ,
