Mike has had a good weekend.  He has shown responsiveness by nodding and shaking his head in response to questions.  He has also squeezed a hand or blinked to indicate that he understood something.  Today, he nodded that he wanted to watch ESPN.

Mike has been alert much of today, tracking people in his room, listening, and responding to questions.  It appears that he may have his days and nights "straightened out."

The temporary drain, previously installed to relieve Mike's head of fluid build-up, has been removed, and he will have another CT scan tomorrow, to determine whether a permanent shunt is necessary.  Pray that it will not be.

Mike may soon be ready to be transferred again, so please remember in your prayers, as well, his caregivers at the future facility.  Thanks for checking in on Mike.

    Mike has been in our prayers and on our heart since March 21st when we received the telephone call about his condition. We praise our Lord for the healing that is taking place in Mike’s body and for the powerful impact this situation is having on so many life’s.

    We have known Mike since the very first day he arrived in Naperville so many years ago. It has been a real blessing to see how God has used Mike to share the love of Christ with so many over the years.

    Although we moved to Washington state 9 years ago we’ve had the privilege of staying in touch and will always have a special connection with this wonderful man of God.

    Peace,

    Tom & Judy Derpack

    PRAISE GOD! It is so wonderful to see how much Mike’s condition is improving! My encouragement today comes from Psalm 25: 1, 4-5.

    To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul;
    Show me your ways, O Lord,
    teach me your paths;
    guide me in your truth and teach me,
    for you are God my savior,
    and my hope is in you ALL DAY LONG.

    Lord- Thank you for continuing your healing process in Mike, and Lord, Thanks for showing me what steadfast faith is through my friendship with Michelle. Lord, My hope is in YOU ALL DAY LONG!

    Amen!

    Mike, hang in there man! Glad to read that you wanted to watch ESPN! You’re obviously as tough as any pro athlete. My family will continue to pray for your speedy recovery.

    It was really encouraging to hear the latest news on Mike’s progress. Try and see if he wants to listen to the Reds game, I’m sure it would put him in a good mood to know that his beloved Reds are in first place. Everyone in Dayton has you in our thoughts and prayers daily.
