Mike's consistency appears to be improving a bit.  Today he has squeezed and released his hands on request.  He is also showing some tracking with his eyes, some of which may be visual tracking (as opposed to auditory).  Mike has had his eyes open many times today, I was told.

The other day, Mike's left eye showed responsiveness to light by contraction of his pupil.  You may remember that Mike's left eye has been dilated and non-responsive to light since the onset of his injury.  Today, his left eye was non-responsive to light, and it is again dilated, but it is exciting to see that his left eye function may be returning.  So, remember Mike's eyes in your prayer.

Now, here is some (more) good news:  Last night, Mike's nurse asked him to squeeze her hand when she said the name of his wife.  After listening to some randomly-chosen other names, Mike squeezed her hand at upon hearing Michelle's name.  In the same manner, he also indicated his recognition of McKaela's and Eli's names.

(It should probably be said that memory loss has NOT been anticipated to be a problem for Mike, but it is certainly good to have some confirmation that he knows us, and recognizes our voices as we encourage and reassure him.)

    Praise God!

Each day brings more progress and more good news. Let’s remember to rejoice as we all keep lifting Mike up to our healing father who is certainly hearing our prayers and healing our brother!

“But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.” – Psalm 5:11

Bit by bit, it’s so amazing to see Mike’s progress through these entries. While I know he’s not out of the woods, it’s just so encouraging to see God working on Mike physically as we pray for him. Let’s keep praying fervently so that Mike sets the world record for aneurysm recovery!

I too rejoice with Beth and everyone else to hear the news that Mike remembers. What a true gift from God. As I have been studying Joseph in BSF you have been brought to my mind many times.

Joseph suffered, but the scripture points out that the Lord was with him and because of that he had success in the midst of suffering.

Lord, thank you for being with Mike, Michelle, McKaela, Eli, and the rest of the family. Thank you for the peace that you have given them which has allowed them to suffer in a way that brings glory to your name. Praise you that you are giving Mike success in all that he is doing and that you are upholding Michelle. You are always with your children Lord, you never leave them. May M,M,M,E continue to experience your powerful, mighty, sustaining, loving presence. To God be the glory great things he has done.

We are praying for Mike, and so grateful for the healing that is and will occur. We can hardly fathom to plans of God for us, but rest in the knowledge that He wants the best and his will, will be done. We pray that great good will come from this trial as it did with Lisa’s cancer. AMEN and AMEN!

WOW!!! God, You never cease to amaze us!
“…for You know the plans that You have for us, plans to grow and prosper and not to harm us. So lead us in Your joy and lead us in Your peace. Let us sing with the mountains and clap with the trees. Instead of the thorns, grow the evergreen, as an everlasting sign so that everyone will see. And this will be for Your glory and not for our own, this will be for Your glory and not for our own, as an everlasting sign that no one can destroy! Redeemer, redeem!”
    Psalm 86:7-10, 13
“In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.
among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.
All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.
For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God…For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.”

AMEN!!!! How great is our God!!

Kate and I are checking this website each day. We are continuing to pray for Mike. We are very excited about the progress that he is making. We will keep the medical team in our prayers. May they have wisdom in helping Mike each day. We will also pray for wisdom in his transfer to the new facility.

    God bless,

I was very happy to see that Mike has progressed a little more. One step at a time, one day at a time. I can clearly see the same things in Mike that were in me when I went through my brain surgery. When coming out of surgery and into recovery, my eyes were not so good. Some problems still to this day but only in one eye with a small lack in the peripheral area. As far as the memory, I had some memory loss but it was due to the damage my tumor had on those brain cells. My memory loss was very minimal and only occured at certain times. The therapy and training in recovery will help Mike alot when it comes to his memory and recovery. The best thing for Mike is to keep saying the names and get confirmation by a squeeze of the hand. Believe it or not that will help him now and later. We wish you all the luck and conitued prayers…Todd

    Hi Mike and MIchelle,

For some reason Mike, I’ve been praying for your eyes since the very beginning so I’m delighted to hear of your pupil responsiveness. I’ve just had this picture of Jesus annointing your eyes with our collective tears of joy and sorrow that are all mingled together in your healing.

Many, many folks in Nevada, in Young Life and in our church, are praying for you.

Love from us all and God’s peace,

    Cata, Warren, and Rob
