Mike has had a good day!  He has shown some finger movement, and he appeared to be doing some "auditory" tracking with his eyes this afternoon.  Also, he breathed without vent support for 8 hours yesterday — AND PRETTY MUCH ALL DAY TODAY, and without stress.  It sounds as if he will soon be entirely independent of the ventilator.  (I understand that he will continue to be given oxygen, but only slightly higher than that in normal air, and only passively and not through ventilator assistance.)

My barber, who is a student of Scripture, today reminded me of this parable, which I wanted to share:

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.' "

For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' "

And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. Luke 18:1-8.

Our faithful and sustained prayer remains (always) the best thing we can do for Mike and Michelle.  Stay encouraged.  The Easter season holds for us the very reason that we are Christians: our Lord's greatest miracle, his own resurrection.  Let's keep praying for the miracle we seek.

    Michelle and family,

Please know that I have been thinking about you all so much. Several times I’ve prepared to call you Michelle and then think maybe it isn’t the right time. I wanted you to know, though, that I am thinking about and praying for you. You are a remarkable woman of God and he will not leave or forsake you or Mike.
I am praying for his complete recovery and your continued wonderful life together.

    Our love,
    Rob, Shanna and family.

Praise God for how good he is!! It is so amazing to see God not only answer our prayers, but go above and beyond what we were even asking him for.
It has blown my mind with how strong you have been through all of this. You have been nothing short of amazing and have truly set an example as to what a woman of God is. You have really shown me what it looks like to let go and let God take over. You have put all your trust and faith in him and it has been so encouraging to read about. Lately, I have been thinking about how thankful so many people are for the both of you. You have so much compassion for all the people you are with, especially the kids at YL. I thank the Lord so much for putting Mike in the position he is at in YL, helping so many people come to know Christ.
I praise and thank God for healing Mike’s body according to His time. Afterall, who knows Mike’s body better than the Lord? A prayer of mine is that we can all wait patiently for him to do his work and trust that we’re on his time…”Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him..” Psalm 37:7
Thank you again for all of the updates…I have been praying for the whole Zegarski family. God bless all of you and keep on praying!! The Lord is at work and praise him for all he is doing with, in, and through Mike!

With lots and lots of love,
    Erin Strong

We are continuing to pray for you all and for God’s healing for Mike daily, and the prayer team at our church and our housegroup are each updated weekly as well. It’s so powerful to continue to see through these updates & comments so many in the body of Christ coming together to lift up this situation in prayer…God is surely hearing and is surely at work, and it is such a blessing to witness that even in the midst of this great struggle. I’m so grateful that He is good all the time; may that continue to be your experience each new day, especially in this season of celebrating our Savior’s resurrection and the abundant LIFE given to us.

We have been struck by how powerful and vast the prayer for Mike and Michelle has been over the last three weeks. As many have said, this is a picture of Christ’s body unlike anything I’ve ever seen. As it is obvious there is power in prayer, we thought it might be powerful to show just how surrounded in prayer Mike, Michelle and their families really are by POSTING A QUICK COMMENT TO SAY WHO YOU ARE AND FROM WHERE YOU’RE PRAYING. It has been so amazing to the response from so many across the country who know (or don’t) and love Mike and Michelle.

Michelle-I went to visit Mike today and, though I don’t have any great verses to go along with it or really profound words, I just felt like seeing him in that way gave me a lot of hope and really made me feel like it’s all going to be ok. I wish I could put it in better words, but through prayer and the visit, I just have some great feeling about it all and I hope I can pass it on to you.

I have read and heard about your husband. My sister told me about your situation. My son was hit by a drunk driver in Florida five years ago in March he was in a coma and fighting for his life lots of rehab, medication and prayers. He has brain injury and still dealing with life every day. I will continue to pray for your family. Pray is so powerful. Have a blessed Easter you will be in my thoughts.
